Helloooo Friday!

A sort of “advent calendar” of October / Halloween short videos.

This LEGO build will blow your mind

Not going to spoil it.

From YouTuber Brick Bending [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7sZY-N_xMkStJWNxhg_iew] who most definitely live up to their name.

World FIRST Take Off Cardboard UFO – Match sticks Chain Reaction Experiment

This time I do experiment using about 25,000 matchsticks chain reaction to powered the cardboard UFO. It can take off more than 15 meters ‘high.'””

The weird launch-spinner apparatus is also kind of fascinating.

How to make a Pumpkin Piano! (using a Makey Makey!) | Maddie Moate

A weird, unweildy piano, but a piano nonetheless.

Huzzah! Friday Videos allll wrapped up!

Happy Friday. Happy Hallowe’en!

See you next week folks.

Happy Friday!

I hope you are all doing just as well as you possibly can.

This week was fast for me! Crazy.

Video Time. Here we go!

Giant pumpkin dropped 100 feet into pool at Bauman Harvest Festival

Just because.

Masturbation & Mascots: Cereal’s Strange History

“Were Kellogg’s cornflakes invented to stop masturbation? Which cereal has the most sugar? And why are there so many gosh darn breakfast cereal mascots?”

A fun little dive into this packaged food.

Start Up I A song made from 45 years of Apple sounds

“Artist-Producer A. G. Cook creates a song from scratch using only the iconic sounds of Apple products from the last 45 years.”

How a Master Chef Makes Every Style of French Fries — Plateworthy

“On this episode of ‘Plateworthy,’ chef Nyesha Arrington demonstrates her methods for making 10 different types of crispy, crunchy French fries, including shoestring, curly, waffle and more. “

Eater’s “Plateworthy” series is excellent. This is a great little episode.

And there we go! Friday videos all set!

Have a great weekend, Friday People!

See you in seven days.

October 15th, 2021

Hellooooo Friday People!

It is video time. And the weekend is almost here.

Let’s go!

Reimagining a British Icon in collaboration with Wes Anderson

“Step aboard the British Pullman, a Belmond train and an icon of the rails, and discover an exclusive design partnership with legendary film director Wes Anderson.”

Yes! Wes Anderson assisted in custom designing a pullman car for this vintage railway.

Because of COURSE he did!

In my opinion they should make a much longer version of this video. (All of their videos are 1:30 or shorter.)

Can this Cuttlefish Pass an Intelligence Test Designed for Children?

“Witness a hungry, color-changing cuttlefish take part in an oddly adorable, psychological test. Following days of training, the cuttlefish is faced with the decision to strike and devour one of two tempting prey: Will it wait for the live crayfish or immediately strike the shrimp?”

The “Stanford marshmallow experiment“, used against cuttlefish.

A sentence I never thought I would ever type.

history of the entire orchestra, I guess

“Why is orchestra the way it is? Why are some instruments in and some instruments out? Where are the electric guitars, synthesizers, saxophones, accordions?”

Created by UK YouTuber David Bruce Composer.

It’s a pretty good, not super long, dive into the topic.

Well there we go. Friday allll video’d up!

The crane that fell for her keeper

“Chris Crowe, an animal keeper at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, has discovered a new way to grow the population of endangered white-naped cranes”

Birds are so weird!!

Great story though.

I appreciate you guys so much and I hope you’re all doing well.

Next week: more videos!

See you then.

October 8th, 2021

We made it!

And where I live, it’s a long weekend! Huzzah!

Isn’t it about time for the Friday Videos?

Yeah? Yeah! Let’s go!

James Bond Directed By Alfred Hitchcock

This short video basically discusses how the movie “North By Northwest” was a prototypical film for what eventually became the James Bond franchise.

It’s really well done!

Done by Kieron Rose . Based on 1940 bolland model . 3d print . Haunted house

“This has taken me nearly a year to build, all completely from scratch. Everything inside the room is 3d printed (apart from the ceiling light) and much of the mechanism is 3D printed too.”

More info on the original Facebook posting (it was down this week so I set it as the backup link).

niul58: Cat Vibes

The cat doesn’t seem to mind. Pretty well done! Cat choreography is a thing!

This AI Learned Some Crazy Fighting Moves!

Also known as “Neural Animation Layering for Synthesizing Martial Arts Movements”. (Gezundheit!)

The narration is super dry but the concept is definitely interesting. We already consume a huge percentage of CGI content in our film and TV every day, now it’s the next step in terms of fighting style innovation. It’s early days yet, but I do find this interesting.

And there we go – videos!! Done!!

Have a lovely Friday, and enjoy your (long?) weekend!

Welcome to Friday!

Welcome to October!

Welcome… to your Friday Videos!

Sadly, I only have three this week. I ran out of time. My apologies.

Let’s go!

Straight Outta Compton – Oktoberfest Edition

From odd mashup artist “There, I Ruined It“, who I’ve featured here previously.

What a series of extremely odd choices!

How the iPhone was invented (and shelved) in 1994

From the fascinating documentary “General Magic“.

Super interesting big brains were working on these concepts a lot longer ago than people may realize.

Super interesting.

Thousand Ball | Amazing DIY Cardboard Craft

A super complicated, seemingly powerful, cardboard ball-cannon. Yikes!

Well there we go! Friday all locked up!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend. Stay safe and stay warm.

And see you next Friday!
