Fridaaaaaaayyyyy!

We made it!

It’s slowly getting warmer outside, and slowly the days are getting longer. Love it!

And now: to the Videos!

Weirdly: All of this week’s selections turned out to be food related. Weird!

Lego Chocolate Cake – Lego In Real Life 10

“This video is a stop motion animation created using many photos.

“I don’t actually cook Legos.”

This is really well done.

The Great Midsommar Bake Off

Adding in tension using music and non-contextual editing.

This is brilliant!

Making A US Big Mac Using All 54 McDonald’s Ingredients | Fast Food Chemistry

That special sauce is the killer.

54 ingredients!

what if the Banana was the same distance as the ISS

This is making the rounds and is… kind of hilarious.

A woman’s voice repeatedly says “Banana” using a bunch of different inflections.

Super weird video. But I love it!

All done. Alllll video’d up.

Happy Friday! Happy Weekend!

Stay safe, and we’ll see you next Friday!

It’s Friday again! Yaaaaay!

Yay? Yay!

And it’s video time!

Here we go…

How Silent Movie Special Effects Were Done

Basically a lot of “in camera” effects, forced perspective, and general cleverness.

I’ve been watching a fairly in depth series about the history of the silent film era and the inventiveness of that period is breathtaking.

My 70s TV

My 70s TV

They also have one for the 80s and the 90s.

I was certain I had linked to this previously, but also I kind of don’t care. This is a great set of sites.

Side note I built a vintage TV setup for my favourite bar (bluebird) using a raspberry pi to basically do the same thing, but on a real tv. It’s been pretty popular (even during pandemic times.)

Glitterbomb Trap Catches Phone Scammer (who gets arrested)

Former NASA engineer and all around amazing inventor Mark Rober (featured here and everywhere previously) partnered up with renowned scam fighter Jim Browning to go after money mules who collect cash shipments for robocall scammers in Kolkata, India.

This is most excellent!

Treehouse Build Timelapse

“This is a tree house that my friend Aza and I built for a customer shortly after I built my original tree house. The build took about six months start to finish, but we weren’t working on it full time. It is located in Sandpoint Idaho.”

Note: this is a long video, and it shows a lot of pretty excellent technique.

I think this is fantastic!

I hope you’re all doing well. It’s starting to gently warm up where I live. I’m looking forward to the next month or so.

Stay safe! Stay well! Hold the line!

See you next Friday everybody.

Welcome to Friday!!

And happy Covid-19 Work From Home anniversary. That was a weird, very long year. But we’re gonna make it. Things are moving forward!

Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak, Silk Sonic – Leave the Door Open [Official Video]

Holy COW this is what I needed on the anniversary of this pandemic.

Fantastic.

The single and b-side is up on Spotify.

Right Up Our Alley

An extremely complicated and thrilling one shot via drone, dolly, rails, etc. from the sky, through the door, and right down the alley of a bowling lane.

Really absolutely astounding however it is that they achieved this.

Making the rounds. Absolutely goddamn right.

Becoming

“Watch a single cell become a complete organism in six pulsing minutes of timelapse. A film by Jan van IJken (janvanijken.com).”

Making the rounds. Rightly so.

Wellerman (Ragtime Sea Shanty) – Scott Bradlee Piano Cover

Ragtime!

Well done!

I guess we’re still not done with this one, single, repetitive sea shanty yet. Still good!

Bonus Video!

DeepTomCruise Tiktok Breakdown

Created by VXF maestro Chris Ume, featuring famed Tom Cruise impersonator Miles Fisher and a crap-ton of Machine Learning and AI.

This is breathtaking.

Much more information here.

Well there you go. Friday Videos!

Stay safe everybody. Next weekend we get Spring in the Northern Hemisphere. Kind of can’t wait. The days are already feeling a little longer. It’s good.

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend.

Let’s go!!

Forward

Shot with the protagonist doing everything backwards, then run forwards.

This is from 2013. Unclear how I missed this. Really well executed.

h/t Miss Celenia.

2,000,000 Ultra Mega Dance Party

From video weirdo Cyriak, who hit 2 million followers and celebrated with… this!

Mathematical Present Wrapping

“Mathematician Katie Steckles takes you through some mathematically satisfying ways to wrap presents using paper.”

Nothing crazy.

This is a christmas video but applies to any giftwrapping you may need to do.

Some quite satisfying solutions here.

How Russians Play the Accordion, Vodka Style

This is accordionist Ivan Zamotaev appearing on “Russia’s Got Talent” in 2014.

He’s pretty talented!

Seems to be making the rounds.

And there we go. Allll video’d up.
