Well hello Friday people!

We made it through August! Huzzah!

I hope you are all well. We are getting through this year.

Video time!

Growing Plants Time Lapse Compilation #2 – 190 Days Of Growing In 3 minutes

[self explanatory]

So good.

The System: New York Rapid Transit – A 1966 Subway Film

“A Documentary created by John Garetti, documenting the NYC Transit system from the late 1800s to the mid 60s. A rare peek into what made the Transit system run in the 1960s.”

Suggested by Mia S.

ASTEROIDS Size Comparison

Well done.

Asteroids are scary. Just floating out there. We know where many of them are but we keep discovering new ones that just missed us.

Artist Creates Realistic Food With Embroidery

“An artist has created a sequence of realistic foods with embroidery – and they look so good, you want to eat them.

“The artist, who is known only as Ipnot, 33, from Kyoto, Japan, has been creating tiny pieces of food sewn artwork for the past five years.”

The main piece is a pizza slice including a fairly realistic cheese pull.

And there we go. Alllll video’d up.

I hope your Friday is fantastic.

Stay safe, and see you next week!

Happy Friday everybody!

Are you ready for your Friday Videos?

Let’s gooooo!

Fugazi – Waiting Room – Cleveland School of Rock

This is amazing!

Huey Lewis | Broken Record (Hosted by Bruce Headlam)

This is an engrossing, entertaining, insightful conversation with 80s pop star Huey Lewis.

Note: audio only. Still worth it.

The entire Broken Record series (and podcast) is worth a listen. They interview so many legend musicians, producers, songwriters, etc.

If you love music, you will love this channel.

Bronson: Keep Moving

“BRONSON is a new project from ODESZA & Golden Features”

A bizarre, expertly directed music video.

Funny. Disturbing.

ALIENS THE RIDE [Planet Coaster]

Planet Coaster is a game where you can create ridiculous roller coaster systems.

This creation by YouTuber (and clearly expert Planet Coaster maker) Hin Nya is an over the top, complicated, beautiful piece of roller coaster art.

Bonus: Making of video.

Bonus Video!

MTV: The first four hours

MTV: The first four hours

August 1st, 1981.

From color bars to intro to on-the-air.

This is a long time ago. Revolutionary at the time it looks sort of “garage” now.

I love the internet archive.

And that’s that! Videos! Friday!

Friday Videos!

I hope your weekend is fantastic.

See you in seven days.

Happy Friday everybody!

We’re in the home stretch of Summmer (in my hemisphere.) I hope you’re all safe and well.

It’s video time!

Always home run bat feat: explosives. Made with my new Tormach 24r

“I made a baseball bat that (pretty much) always hits home runs. It uses explosive charges to put an enormous amount of power into your swing.”

From the YouTube channel “Stuff Made Here” which has a few other interesting creations.

Funny. Dangerous! Funny.

Building A Small PC Setup – Mini Computer

“Hello Friends, in this video im going to make a Mini PC with Raspberry PI, i use Raspberry Pi Board and New Ice Tower Cooler…”

This is fantastic!

I wonder if anybody makes a micro keyboard and mouse to go with these… (careful!)

This guy has made several different varieties of tiny PC computers. Really great work.

A Bridge Above: 20 Years of the International Space Station

“What if we built a bridge, between and above all nations, to jointly discover the galaxy’s great unknowns?” Join us this fall as we prepare to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the International Space Station.”

How to Make Globe From Cardboard and Popsicle Sticks – Diy

“Hello Friends Today in this video I make a Globe which can Rotate 360degrees with the help of lots of Cardboard and Popsicle Sticks “

Created by Youtuber “SKM” who has also made a “lock puzzle box“, a DIY “air cooler” (also out of popsicle sticks) and numerous other items.

Very clever work.

Huzzah! Friday Videos complete!

Have a lovely weekend everybody.

See you next week.

August 7th, 2020

Welcome to Friday!

We did it! Yeah!!

And I have some quick little videos.

Heeeeere we go…

Star Turns GIF Compilation

Animating movie posters of Hollywood celebrities.

It’s kind of mesmerizing.

Making the rounds. Cleverly done.

HBO Max: Looney Tunes Cartoons

A new set of Looney Tunes creations from HBO Max, available on YouTube for a limited time.

They previously only released a super short revival a few years ago. Clearly they’ve been busy.

A 1921 avant-garde documentary film considered to be really the first of its kind.

This is a super rare film. No negatives exist. This was restored from one of the sole remaining 35mm prints, and it looks fantastic.

Much more information here.

Sorting Marshmallows with AI: Using Coral + Teachable Machine

“Teachable Sorter is a machine you can teach to rapidly recognize and sort all kinds of objects (like marshmallows from cereal) using your own custom machine learning models. It’s a starter project that demonstrates how to integrate on-device machine learning into your physical projects.”

They provide a link to the source code as well.
