Happy Friday!

And Merrrrry Christmas of course!

Can you believe it? So crazy! It’s Christmas!!

And! It’s video time. Let’s go!

Why Almost All Christmas Music Is From the 1940s and 1950s – Cheddar Explains

Ali Larkin does a medium dive into this question. They start with Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” and progress from there.

Worth a look!

2020 Movie Trailer Mashup

Believe it or not, there were movies released in 2020!

Short little mashup but it’s well done.

The Beatles: Get Back – A Sneak Peek from Peter Jackson

“Acclaimed filmmaker Peter Jackson has released an exclusive sneak peek of his upcoming documentary “The Beatles: Get Back” for fans everywhere to enjoy. The 5-minute special look is available to fans worldwide on and streaming on Disney+.”

Did you know that Peter Jackson was making a new documentary about the recording of the final Beatles album?

I sure did not!

It’s not my favorite album of theirs by a long shot, but the man has exclusive access to 54 hours (!) of footage shot during the recordings.

This snippet certainly looks more fun and upbeat than the notorious Let It Be documentary originally released.

Making the rounds and deservedly so.

Also: it really makes me miss John Lennon so much more.

“Nothing Else Matters” – Oona BROWN & Gage BROWN skate to @Metallica & @Marlisa

“Oona and Gage Brown are Team USA Ice Dancers. We filmed their 2020-21 Free Dance in Bryant Park’s Winter Village ice rink at 6:45 in the morning over the Thanksgiving holiday. Thank you to their coach Joel Dear for helping to organize.”

The arrangement makes it seem like the song was written by Enya. 🙂

An interesting choice for a figure skating routine.

Next: Do “Master of Puppets”!

Well there we go: Friday Videos! All done!

I hope your Friday, and your Christmas, and your Holidays, are all fantastic.

Thanks for following along all year. We’re going to get through this. What a terrible year.

See you next week I sure hope.

Merry Christmas!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!

And welcome to the last Friday before Xmas 2020. It’s the second-last Friday of 2020. 2020 can get the hell out, thank you very much.

I hope you are all well and warm and safe and – I know it’s a long-shot – happy.

It’s video time! Let’s get it.

Glitterbomb 3.0 vs. Porch Pirates

The third generation of this immensely popular criminal decoy.

But also: now YouTuber / Engineer Mark Rober has started his own learn-at-home engineering class. He also has online merch store.

“Merry Christmas ya filthy animals. If you want to learn the design fundamentals it takes to make something like the Glitter Bomb, enroll in my NEW Creative Engineering course at and I’ll see you in class!”

An Honest 2020 Christmas (help)

From talented YouTuber and singer Malinda. who frequently collaborates with the Gregory Brothers.

It’s a lot of autotune but it’s well done.

The Year on TikTok: Top 100

The Year on TikTok: Top 100

Yes,. ya got yer Bella Poarch. Ya got yer Charli D’amelio. But also a lot of social change and social justice videos and accounts.

To think this year started as just another “entertainment” year for TikTok but then quickly morphed into a news gathering and protest year. And it’s obviously not over yet.

Lonely Rolling Star – Big Band Jazz Version (The 8-Bit Big Band)

Lonely Rolling Star from Katamari Damacy arranged for Big Band with Synths and Vocals featuring the amazing singer Kaho Kidoguchi from Japan 🙂 !

This game has become a Christmas perennial for me since 2004. I play it every year. The music is a little crazy but very accomplished. This big-band version is fantastic.

Bonus Video!

The Man Who Invented More Than 800 Iconic Toys | Eddy’s World | The New Yorker

“Eddy Goldfarb, who is ninety-eight, created such classics as the bubble gun, chattering teeth, and Kerplunk! Here’s how he did it.”

This is a fairly in-depth documentary. What a bizarre array of fun little “things” he came up with in his career.

Sent in by several subscribers. Heartwarming.

Well here we are, at the end. One more Friday to go everybody. Let’s power through.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

See you next Friday.

December 11th, 2020

And it’s one of only three left in the year 2020. Crazy!

And it’s video time!!

Let’s gooooowuh!

Foolproof Tarte Tatin & Rough Puff Pastry | Claire Saffitz | Dessert Person

This is one of the many transformations from the former Bon Appetit youtubers who all left the company after a very troubling year of unfair mismanagement and racist ignorance. Claire Saffitz is the “Gourmet Makes” chef who manually recreated pop tarts, skittles, and many more mass-produced confections.

Here she makes a fairly straightforward Tart Tatin, in her home kitchen.

The series is based off of her new cookbook – “Dessert Person” – which you can buy now. Good for her!

Radiohead – Creep But It’s All I Want For Christmas Is You By Mariah Carey (2020 Mix)

Created by YouTuber William Maranci.

Fredrik Tjærandsen, Fashion in Motion | V&A

Mr. Tjærandsen has created self-inflating balloon fashion. It’s… kind of crazy! Beautifully executed.

This video shows more of the diversity of the collection.

Why Humans Are Obsessed with Cats | Annals of Obsession | The New Yorker

“We take a look at how felines took over the Internet, our homes, and our lives.”

And there we go!

Friday Videos! Done!

I hope you are all as well as you can possibly be.

Happy Friday!

Stay safe. See you next week.

December 4th, 2020

Well hello Friday!

It’s December!

Over on the Friday Links I posted my 2020 Christmas Giving and Gifting edition. 2020 is obviously not a typical year when it comes to Christmas. People need help. People need food. Please strongly consider donating to your local or regional food bank.

Billie Eilish: Same Interview, The Fourth Year | Vanity Fair

I love these. She’s so interesting. Also: what a crazy year.

She’s doing these until she’s 90! 🙂

Rube Goldberg Trick Shot Machine | Harlem Globetrotters

Suuuuper complicated!!

A Burst of Deep Sea Fireworks: Halitrephes Jelly | Nautilus Live

“The frilled tentacles of the Halitrephes maasi jelly came into view at 1225m in the Revillagigedo Archipelago off Baja California, Mexico.”

Note: this channel is worth a follow. Non-stop footage of the craziest, most awe-inspiring deep-sea creatures you have ever seen.

ILHAN ERSAHIN’S ISTANBUL SESSIONS “Hurri-Mitanni (Güzel Haber)” [official video]

A beautifully stylized dance video.

Bonus Video!

Judgement on COVID-19 goes HEAVY METAL [Kenneth Copeland Remix] [I Demand]

This is awesome! (Although I despise this type of televangelism.)

So Happy Friday! We made it!

Stay safe. Stay sane. Stay warm. Stay dry.

See you next Friday!
