Happy Friday!

Nearly the end of January already. Ridiculous.

Ready for some videos? Yeah you are!!

Magic Angle Sculpture made of Lego®: Dragon Butterfly Jet

Created by John V. Muntean, who does not solely use Lego for his sculptures.

Jaquet Droz The Writer Automaton From 1774 In Action

“One of three surviving automata from the 18th century built by Jaquet Droz, this is “The Writer” and is the most famous machine. The Writer was the inspiration for the movie Hugo, and still works today.”

A lot more engrossing information here and here.

My favorite line: “He uses a goose feather to write, which he inks from time to time, including a shake of the wrist to prevent ink from spilling. His eyes follow the text being written, and his head moves when he takes some ink.”

So crazy.

Sanderson Orrery

“This video was produced for a private collector who wanted to show the functionality of a new piece that had entered their collection: ‘The Sanderson Orrery'”

Created by Jeff Chow.

An “orrery” is a model of the solar system, and it’s not always powered.

This one is immensely complicated.

Baby Ryan “Sings” Thunderstruck

It’s not what you think…

“I recorded my son making baby noises, figured out the notes he made, and arranged them into ‘Thunderstruck’ by AC/DC”

Not really the baby “singing”, but still mega-impressive.

And that’s that! Friday: Videos!

Have an excellent, relaxing, warm and dry weekend.
