Happy Friday!

And congratulations on making it to June, 2019!

We now commence our Friday Videos transmission…

Few-Shot Adversarial Learning of Realistic Neural Talking Head Models

What a title! Just flows off the tongue… 😉

This is the deeper research that led to the widely reported “Mona Lisa” deep fake video that made the rounds in the past couple of weeks.

“Our work (and quite a few parallel works) will lead to the democratization of the certain special effects technologies. And the democratization of the technologies has always had negative effects.”

This fascinating (even though the narrator gets a little too technical here,) and we’re already awaiting the terrible effects of how it could be misused.

The IMAX of the 1890s | HOW TO SEE the First Movies

I honestly had NO IDEA this was a thing!

Basically 70mm prints from the 1890s! Most film was more narrow than 35mm film. So crazy.

The detail is astounding.

Fritz Learns to Catch Compilation #1

“We’ve compiled some of the highs and lows of Fritz’s quest to learn how to catch food. Sit back and enjoy a little ride through memory lane as Fritz is introduced to a steak, a strawberry, a chimichanga, a meatball, and more.”

Note. I am late to this particular party. It’s still pretty great.

Raised off the Grid: Meet the 17-Year Old Living in the Wilderness

“On a remote homestead in the Blue Ridge Mountains, 17-year-old Maddie Roark spent her childhood learning how to camp, shoot and hunt. With college on the horizon, she’s returning to the wilderness to reset; as she preps for a 6 month solo hike on the Appalachian Trail.”

Actually a really fascinating report from Vice News.

That is what I’ve got this week.

Happy Friday, welcome to June, and have a fantastic weekend!
