Hooray for Friday!

It’s getting nicer outside. But don’t go outside just yet. There are videos to watch first…

OCTAVE

“By reordering and distorting time ‘OCTAVE’ is an exploration of the frenetic architecture, rhythm and geometry of Hong Kong. Filmed from a moving vehicle, the film utilises motion and time to create a seamless evolving architectural canvas, viewing the urban environment from a unique perspective.”

Produced by James Medcraft, who has also written a breakdown of how it was shot, including a few behind-the-scenes short videos.

Beautifully executed.

Shaolin Kung Fu Training: Spectacular Display Caught From Satellite

Part of the BBC show “Earth From Space.”

The title is a little misleading. To be clear: not all of this is satellite footage. A great deal of it is drone photography.

But still!

Making the rounds and worth every second.

Hidden Details of the New York Public Library

“Find out about hidden details of the famed NYC building as these expert reveal the history behind the Winnie the Pooh toys, the Rose Main Reading Room, the iconic lion statues Patience and Fortitude, the Stephen A. Schwarzman building, the Milstein Division, the map collection, the book train and more.”

Produced by Architectural Digest. This is an engrossing short documentary.

The Hummingbird Whisperer

A very short film about UCLA assistant researcher Melanie Barboni and her insights into Hummingbird behaviors.

Great story available here.

Bonus Video!

FITNESS ZONE

“MOVE ZONE! a fitness tape to get your decaying flesh form in HOT SHAPE. Made for Game Show, A group show in Berlin on the 2nd of December 2017 ft.”

Posted by Vimeo member Jack Sachs, whose other videos are also worth a look.
