Happy Friday!

Galen Hartley builds a violin

As you probably know, I like this kind of thing. Meticulous, painstakingly difficult handmade items. This one is great. But additionally: I like the narration.

Great work here.

My Indiana Muse (trailer 1)

“Through an unconventional sequence of events, artist Robert Townsend discovers his kodachrome muse and embarks on an ambitious and emotional project that will take more than a decade to complete.”

I think I definitely need to check this out. It’s currently prepping to play quite a few film festivals.

A-ha – Take On Me (Alexandr Misko) (Fingerstyle Guitar)

[self explanatory]

A really inventive performance

See also: Billy Jean.

See also also Luca Stricagnoli.

Kanye West as a Tame Impala Song

From SuperDeluxe.

This is dynamite.

That’s all I got this week. I hope your (long?) weekend is fantastic.

See you again in seven days!

Happy Friday!

And finally Spring. That felt like forever. Hopefully it’s warming up where you are.

To the videos!

ISLE OF DOGS | Cast Interviews | FOX Searchlight

A promo short for the new Wes Anderson movie “Isle Of Dogs”. (Say it out loud.)

These are great. The facial expressions they’ve managed to apply here are so good.

Crown Candy Kitchen creating misfit chocolates

Creating weird, mildly disturbing creations from leftover or imperfect molded chocolate parts is pretty ingenius.

This Film Used To Be About Rum

What starts as a documentary about rum making in Cuba turns into one about living in an “active miltary dictatorship”.

It’s worth a look.

Club Palace: Real or CGI?

“For this surreal new film, Club Palace, Montreal-based creative agency Caravane collaborated with creative director Camille Boyer and cinematographer Nik Mirus to conjure a playful and perplexing landscape that challenges our perceptions of space.”

An interesting little project!

And there we go! Friday Videos.

See you next week everybody.

It’s already Friday again!

See? Daylight savings! It works!!

(kidding)

It is video time. Let’s go!

A New View of the Moon

“We took a telescope around the streets of Los Angeles to give passersby an up-close look at a familiar object: a new view of the moon.”

These reactions are everything.

“[Xkeeper] We found the music frequency table

[Xkeeper] Let’s see what happens when we reverse its order

[Raspberry] … oh dear.”

Extremely nerdy, and weird-sounding.

saudis changing tyres while driving

[self explanatory…?!]

DO NOT Try this at home. Or anywhere. Yikes.

Only Slightly Exaggerated | Travel Oregon

“Based on actual events. More or less.”

Oregon tourism video in the style of Miyazaki.

This is making the rounds but I liked it

Bonus Video!

Monty Python and the Holy Grail as a serious action drama

[self explanatory]

Well done, despite the choice of voice-over actor.

And that’s it. Friday: all video’d up.

Have a great final-winter weekend everybody!

Welcome to Friday Videos!

We made it to another Friday you guys!

Here we go…

I Heard it Round and Round the Grapevine

1984 Ratt song + essential Marvin Gaye song = … a surprisingly good mashup!

Steve Smith: Facelift

His other short videos are similarly bizarre. [https://vimeo.com/sleevesmith]

81 Year Old Commodore Amiga Artist – Samia Halaby

“Samia Halaby is a world renowned painter who purchased a Commodore Amiga 1000 in 1985 at the tender age of 50 years old. She taught herself the BASIC and C programming languages to create “kinetic paintings” with the Amiga and has been using the Amiga ever since.”

I love this story. Her art feels very modern despite using such an old processor to create it. Just lovely.

PAL-V Flying Car – Maiden Flight

This video is from 2012. But it’s still under development.

See also: Hang-E manned flight tests.

Rube Goldberg Trick Shot Machine | Harlem Globetrotters

“We teamed up with students from Georgia Tech’s colleges of Industrial Design and Music to bring this trick shot machine to life.”

So that’s that! Friday Videos. Sorted.

See you next week everybody.

Happy Friday!

It’s already March. Crazy! And where I am, it snowed. So… yay?

Here we go!

How Criterion Collection Brings Movies Back From the Dead

[self explanatory]

Vintage film distributor “Kino” used to have a great 10 minute video of how they restored classics like Metroplis and Nosferatu but they aren’t freely available online.

The process is laborious and painstaking, but the results are so good.

ChickenWatch: Is Tokyo Fried Chicken The Best In The World?

This is an episode of Buzzfeed’s new food series “ChickenWatch” and it is… uh… a little weird.

It’s funny, and it reminds me of Tim and Eric a little bit. There are several episodes. Choose wisely. 🙂

DANCE DANCE

“From an artistic point of view, the flowers are represented in the 4 seasons.”

Super Mario Bros. Ragtime Piano Medley – Scott Bradlee

Not purely ragtime, but super entertaining anyway. He covers a few levels. Really well played.

If HAL9000 was Amazon.com’s Alexa

[sort of self explanatory]

Suggested by James H.

Well that’s the end of that!

Thanks for following the Friday Videos. See you next week!
