December 30th, 2016

Friday hey? That was fast.

And it’s the last one! Better make some time for a few short videos.

Here we go…

2016: The Movie

[self explanatory]

Funny… sort of…

Star Wars but every time someone shoots a laser it speeds up

I don’t know why videos like this are suddenly a thing, but they make me laugh.

Everybody wants to kill Bruce 2

Yes, there is a part 1.

Crafted with care by Pierre-Alexandre Chauvat. Some excellent editing choices being made here.

Nat and Lo: A Journey To The Bottom Of The Internet

Technically, a journey to where undersea cables lie, and how they get there.

Bonus Video!

How To Wrap A Duck for Christmas

Now we finally know how! 🙂

Have a lovely weekend, a Happy New Year, and enjoy the last days of the awful year that was 2016.

See you next week.

December 23rd, 2016

Welcome to Friday before Xmas! (Xmas Eve’s Eve.)

I found you some videos!

Google – Year In Search 2016

Warning: 2016

An annual tradition. Well edited and composed. This has been a crazy year.

The Nutcracker Zoetrope

This Zoetrope is made of 20 Dancing Ballerinas, 18 Jumping mice, 17 Marching Nutcrackers and 1 christmas tree.

Whimsically executed. 🙂

Simpsons All Movie References 8 Seasons

[self explanatory]

Every film reference made within 8 seasons of the Simpsons.

Cars of the Future (1948)

Quaint. Odd! I think if this announcer saw a Tesla he would have a meltdown.

Bonus Video!

The Somniloquist

“I recorded myself talking in my sleep nearly every night for a year. These are some of the things I said.”

There we go. 🙂 Friday Videos!

Only one more Friday left in 2016. I hope your holidays are fantastic and warm and lovely.

See you in a week.

Friday Videos!

Ya got yer Friday, ya got yer videos. Ya got Friday Videos!

And we’re in the thick of the holiday season! Whuhoo!

So here we go…

Home Alone (Eclectic Method Remix)

This is making the rounds. I like it. Also: festive.

3D optical illusion wall art made using one sheet of paper

[self explanatory]

Almost too short.

all star but the vocals are pitch shifted to the initial note

(Conversely, almost too long…)

Better? Worse? What an odd project.

“The Night Before Christmas” Read In 27 Celebrity Impressions

Performed by “master impressionist” Jim Meskimen.

Making the rounds. Not bad!

Bonus Video!

My Child Is Dreaming

“The idyllic world of children against adults’ dreamlike visions.”

Animated by Mr. Klesha.

Happy Holidays everybody!

See you in one week.

December 9th, 2016

Ohhhh the weather outside is an upper level depression…

Or maybe not where you live. 🙂

Happy Friday!

Some videos you say… Coming right up!

Secret World of Stuff SuperCut No. 1

Created by Sean Charmatz, who has created several of these.

Adorable. Hilarious.

“A Tribute to the Post-Apocalyptic Cinema.”

I’ll say!

This is making the rounds but I figure, even if you did see it already, it’s worth seeing again. 🙂

Richard Feynman to Arline – Read by Oscar Isaac

“Richard Feynman was one of the most influential physicists of his generation and in 1965, he and two colleagues were awarded the Nobel Prize. In June of 1945, his 25-year-old wife and high-school sweetheart, Arline, passed away after succumbing to tuberculosis. 16 months later, Richard wrote his late wife a love letter and sealed it in an envelope. It remained unopened until after his death in 1988.”

For some reason this is also making the rounds. It’s very poignant and touching. So here it is.

How To Make A Clock In The Home Machine Shop – Part 23 – Making The Key, Polishing And Assembly

This is one of a dizzyingly long list of videos made by ClickSpring, who specializes in making videos of the entire manufacturing process involved in creating a mechanical timepiece.

This is a bit of a rabbit hole, but wow is there some loving attention to detail here.

Bonus Video!

Freshpet Holiday Feast – 13 Dogs and 1 Cat Eating with Human Hands

Love. 🙂

Boom! Friday videos – complete!!

Stay warm this weekend, and have a fantastic Friday everybody.

December 2nd, 2016

December, just like that.

So fast. But! It’s also Friday. Which is my favorite.

And also: videos!

DJ Cummerbund – YYMilk

This insane, complicated mashup places Kelis’s “Milkshake” vocal tracks overtop of Rush’s prog instrumental “YYZ”.

I like it!

This dark futuristic animated short from animator Vitaly Shushko is kind of like what a side-scrolling video game would be like to live in, only darker.

All told without dialogue of any kind. Beautifully executed.

The Witch as a Wes Anderson Movie – Trailer Mix

“H&M just released a Christmas commercial ad directed by the great auteur, Wes Anderson. Now what if he directed a supernatural thriller? Would it be as thrilling? We’ve taken it upon ourselves to do the dirty work!”

Subtle. But it works! (btw the actual Vvitches movie is a must.

The Map of Physics

“Everything we know about physics – and a few things we don’t – in a simple map.”

Well… “simple.” Hm. This is a great educational tool if you have any interest in the subject, but maybe especially if you never thought you did.

Bonus Video!

DuoSkin:Functional, stylish on-skin user interfaces

What a time to be alive. 🙂 I’m only sort-of joking. A lot of effort goes into making this. It’s interesting.
