The last Friday in April…

The Devil you say!

Must be time for some videos…

Little Talks Guitar Cover by Lego Mindstorms EV3

“It’s Lego, and it’s playing guitar :)”

This is pretty amazing. 🙂

A Big (Apple) Passion Project: Illustrating New York City’s Subway Stations

“To put it lightly, Philip Ashforth Coppola loves New York City’s subway stations. For the past 38 years, the New Jersey-based illustrator has been exploring the Big Apple’s underground stations and sketching its mosaics in amazing detail with just a ballpoint pen.”

38 years! These are incredibly and lovingly detailed. Fantastic.

Kung Fu Motion Visualization

It’s mesmerizing. No details as to how this was achieved but it’s beautiful.

Guns ‘N Roses Play Jazz

“It’s Guns ‘N Roses and they are playing jazz” (ok no not really.)

This made me lafffff!! It must have taken some time to come up with this and make it all match. Great stuff. (Sort of. Ugh!)

Bonus Video!

Bottomless Bag Magic

Musician Stuart Edge pulls of this clever sleight of hand to help promote “Del Taco” restaurants. Well done, sir.

Have a great weekend Friday people!

Friiiiday! Yessss.

So I have a few videos for you.

Fallout New Vegas – Choose Your Own Apocalypse

An interactive sequence of videos that changes based on what you click on while a video plays.

This probably took some impressive planning to pull off. Well done.

Dibrugarh-Kanyakumari Vivek Express timelapse

“Some video from the longest train in India, from my photoessay.” Video and music by Ed Hanley.

21 cars long! Interesting to me at least.

Maisie Williams (aka Arya Stark) Pranks Game of Thrones Fans

“Here is what happens when you put Arya Stark, hidden cameras, and die-hard Game of Thrones fans into an RPG store.”

I love that she is game to do this. Fantastic.

Bill Nye’s 2016 Forecast Challenge

“As you may have heard, bodybuilder and meteorologist Joe Bastardi challenged Bill Nye the Science Guy to show a link between carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and the world’s temperature. He also challenged Bill to forecast where temperatures are headed over the next 5 years.

Well, Bill Nye has accepted Joe’s challenge, as he explains in this video.”

I mean… ultimately I wish Nye would not win this, but we can all probably guess. 2015 was the hottest year on record… So I guess check back in December.

Bonus Video!

Paper Wizard

No information included in this video, so I have no idea who this is, but this is pretty cool. Feels like an old-timey carnival barker kind of trick. I like.

And there we go! Videos! Sorted!

I’ll see you next week, Friday Videos folks.

Look at that! It’s Friday!

Just look at it!

By the way did everyone catch that amazing booster landing that Space-X did? (Now you did.) Holy crap!

Okay: Guys! Videos!

Digital Dance (1982)

“by Ed Tannenbaum with music by Might Dog and Dancing by PonsMaar”

Kind of a mesmerizing effect. Created wayyyy before digital was a thing for video.

Flyboard® Air Test 1

This one is making the rounds, and it’s definitely interesting, but no way in hell would I get on board one of these.

Still: cool!

Skateboarding on FIRE in the RAIN (BURN 2)

The random capitalization of this title seems quasi-Tourettes, but this video is pretty badass.

Weaving the Bridge at Q’eswachaka

“Every year, local communities on either side of the Apurimac River Canyon use traditional Inka engineering techniques to rebuild the Q’eswachaka Bridge. The old bridge is taken down and the new bridge is built in only three days. ”

This dates back some 600 years. This takes place every June. Pretty fascinating.

Bonus Video!

Brothers Convince Little Sister of Zombie Apocalypse

Some caveats: She had just had her wisdom teeth out, and apparently the anesthetic used causes the recipient to be very suggestible.

Cruel, but also definitely funny. Sent in by Traci T.

Have a lovely (warm?) Friday.

Holy crap it’s already Friday!

Videos! Coming right up…

Spintop Snipers | Amazing Top Trick Shots!

This feels so old-timey, but very fun.

Sent in by Miko C.

Tedeschi Trucks Band: Tiny Desk Concert

This must have sounded just astounding in person. Wow!

Also: if you like this, you will love their new album (and tour.)

Confidence

“One of the most apparently trivial but in truth crucial ingredients behind success is the thing we call Confidence. What is it, where does it come from, and how might we have a little more of it please?”

Just one of many well executed shorts from the School of Life YouTube channel.

Brooklyn is Pizza Heaven: The Pizza Show

This is their first episode.

“Our host Frank Pinello, a born and bred Brooklynite, remembers the importance of his neighborhood pizzeria growing up. We start at Roberta’s in Bushwick, a pizzeria that has truly changed an entire neighborhood.”

It’s a bit long but it’s lovingly assembled. Nice work.

Bonus Video!

CDEFGABC

“We’ve built a glass harp and learned to play this 18th-century musical instrument. Instead of a classical piece we choose the classic 20th-century piece ‘No limit’ by 2unlimited — easily the worst song ever!”

A crazy choice but they did it, by golly.

All video’d up! 🙂

Have a happy, hopefully warm, Friday.

Enjoy your weekend.

It is Friday again! But a whole new month.

And you know what that means…

World Fair

“From the perspective of the 21st century, it’s hard to imagine what a marvel the 1939-1940 New York World’s Fair would have been to its visitors.”

A lot more info here.

A beautiful, carefully curated short documentary using a lot of unique footage and access to still-living attendees of this event.

Great work.

Eggstatic – stroboscopic patterns for Easter eggs

Yes, I am a week late. This was sent to me right after Easter weekend and it’s making the rounds, and wow is it beautiful. Technologically clever as well. I like.

Never Pay For Food Again In NYC

“…As many sophisticated urban survivalists know, there is an extraordinary amount of perfectly good, even gourmet, food set out every night in sanitary bags outside city delis, bakeries, restaurants, and supermarkets.”

This was sent in by many subscribers and it’s not the first time I’ve heard of this in the past ten years, but it is the most well-executed summary.

It is crazy / infuriating to think of the waste we accept every day…

Amazing Cartoon Impressions!

Brock Baker dazzles with a dizzying array of spot-on impressions of cartoon voices, often in unlikely scenarios.

Well done.

Bonus Video!

Rainbow Crayon Bud Vase

YouTuber Peter Brown takes 56 crayons, melts them into a block, and then uses a lathe to turn that into a vase.

Well done. 🙂

And there we go! Happy Friday, video fans.

See you next week.
