Friday at last. And it’s nearly Hallowe’en!

It’s video time! I decided not to go the scary route, since there is plenty of that going around anyway (and I ran out of time, I can’t lie.) So I hope you still enjoy these unique finds anyway.

Daylight Saving – Movie Trailer

Pretty great. And a reminder: it happens in North America on Sunday morning.

Swing Dancers vs. Street Dancers @ Montreal Swing Riot 2015

“Lindy hoppers” dance to hip hop, hip hop dancers dance to jazz… dogs and cats living together…!

This is a joyful video. I don’t know if this is  regular occurrence but it would be incredible to see live.

Everything We Think We Know About Addiction Is Wrong

From the definitely recommended YouTube channel In a Nutshell – Kurzgesagt comes this investigation into why addiction becomes so severe (basically: a lack of options, sort of.) Collaborator Johann Hari has a companion article in the Huffington Post about this. There are some interesting revelations here. This is making the rounds, and for good reason.

Juggling Gentlemen: It’s Business Time

The song is super catchy, and they do the whole thing in tempo with the song. Amazing.

And hey since it’s Hallowe’en:

Aaaooooooo….

Adorable!

Have a great Friday and a fantastic Hallowe’en.

See you in seven days.

One week until Hallowe’en! Good thing nothing super fun happened in the past week… 😉

But at least Friday is right here, right now.

Let’s get going!

Walk On The Wired Side

“A parodic, profile-punning reinterpretation of Lou Reed’s classic celebration of counterculture, from your friendly neighbourhood FrinterGardeners.”

This video takes the lyrics of Lou Reed’s “Walk On The Wild Side” and phonetically matches every word to a Twitter ID. This is one of the most unexpected things I’ve seen in a while. Made me laugh, but it’s also inexplicably odd.

Darbin Ovar: Baseball Bat from Rough Sawn Lumber

[self explanatory]

Mesmerizing, to me.

W/ Bob and Dave

Mr. Show is getting a revival on Netflix and it already looks awesome.

Dismaland – The Official Unofficial Film

“A cinematic journey around Banksy’s Dismaland”

I covered this previously (as did nearly everybody.) This is a great synopsis of the project.

Bonus Video!

Dogs Chase A Laser Pointer

[self explanatory]

Only it’s from a fifth floor apartment, in Moscow, leading a bunch of strays.

That’s entertainment!

See you next week everybody!

Well hello there.

We are officially in “late” October now.

You can tell. The Christmas stuff is all out in the stores already. So crazy.

Video time!

The Red Drum Getaway

You got yer Hitchcock and you got yer Kubrick and then you got yer — gaaaah!

Note: NSFW. But brilliantly executed. Just in time for Hallowe’en.

Computer Show “Arts”

This claims to be from 1983, but actually juxtaposes current technology as if it were first being reviewed in that year.

Kind of funny kind of cringe-y.

They have their own website too (whatever that is…)

BIG FIELD Episode 1 BADGERS

“Made from recycled materials. All the sound/dialogue in this film has been culled from old vinyl, cassettes and off telly. Most of the props were bought off eBay as part of the #99peBayChallenge.”

Kind of ridiculous but I found it entertaining. There are several episodes. Enjoy!

Apollo Missions

“I was looking through the Project Apollo Archive and at one point, I began clicking through a series of pics quickly and it looked like stop motion animation. So, I decided to see what that would look like without me having to click through it. Enjoy!”

Kind of cute.

Note: similary inspired but in a much different tone is “Ground Control“. Great stuff.

Bonus Video!

Suaveciclo by Vj Suave

“VJ Suave has two audiovisual tricycles adapted with a projector, computer, speakers and
batteries. They’re used so that the small narratives with characters and poetry can travel open spaces, lighting the walls on a large scale.”

So simply done, but look at the reaction they get. Fantastic.

Have a lovely weekend everybody. See you next Friday!

Yayyyy Friday!

Are we all ready? Sitting comfortably? Good!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Disney Mashup

Just great. So short but not a wasted moment. Well done.

Hey, speaking of Disney…

Glen Keane: Step Into The Page

Legendary Disney artist and animator Glen Keane talks about his process for drawing and also demonstrates some interesting new VR tools for drawing and art creation.

Monsoon II

Photographer Mike Olbinski chases storms in Arizona. This video is shot in 4k and you can buy a blu-ray of this short film.

NASA Scientist Reviews The Martian

Josh K. Willis, an oceanographer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, gives a pretty straightforward review of the new Ridley Scott / Matt Damon movie. From Buzzfeed.

Bonus Video!

Spongebob Sings Black Sabbath

Yes… yes he sure does.

And an extra bonus video link since it’s a long weekend up here:

Benny Hill This

A site that takes a YouTube video, speeds it up, and puts “Yakkity Sax” over it.

How did this not exist before now?!

Also for my American friends, Paramount has a new YouTube channel called The Paramount Vault which showcases a collection of Paramount films through the ages. This is not available outside the US but I’m sure several of you know a few ways around that. This seems like a pretty big move for a movie studio.

Have a great weekend everybody.

Well here it is: it’s October. These are the facts now.

But it’s also Friday. And it’s also video time!

How to Make a $4000 Suit in Only 10 Months

[self explanatory]… and probably much more detail than you were expecting. Wow.

The Trunk Theater: Amusing people in traffic jams

“The Trunk Theater is an invention of a Slovenian theater called Mini Teater. It demonstrates a true power of theater as it amuses people when being least amused – stuck in traffic jams.”

I like. 🙂 It might even be too short.

IKEA Hack – Kura Bed with slide and secret room

It has a secret room! Amazing.

AIDAPrima Cruise Ship: Full Construction Time-Lapse by MKtimelapse

They don’t say how long the real-time construction took, but one can assume it was months.

Bonus Video!

Cat Shuts Up Dog

This family’s cat, “Greyscale”, throws some shade on “Chaz” and his relentless barking.

Also: How about that loft? Looks amazing. 🙂

Have a great weekend, Friday friends!
