The role of U.S. airports in disease epidemics

“Public health crises of the past decade – such as the 2003 SARS outbreak, which spread to 37 countries and caused about 1,000 deaths, and the 2009 H1N1 flu pandemic that killed about 300,000 people worldwide – have heightened awareness that new viruses or bacteria could spread quickly across the globe, aided by air travel.”
This visualization shows which hub airports are the prime carriers of diseases internationally.
Created by a bunch of researchers at MIT.

Oh Friday how we love you.

Let’s get going!

» Improv Everywhere – The Mini-Golf Open

Improv Everywhere - The Mini-Golf Open

“For our latest mission, we turned a mini-golf course into a major golf championship. We surprised random mini-golfers with caddies, commentators, an ESPN camera crew, and a huge crowd. The ‘winner’ was presented with the actual Claret Jug from The Open Championship.”
These guys are kind of hit and miss, but this one is amazing.

“This is a private project I made while waiting to get green light on a commercial project. I had no plan other than doing some fun things in Cinema 4D. Just started playing with physics and other ideas in Cinema 4D. As I worked on it, it grew to something bigger. Music is by Hecq – Steeltongued (Tobias Lilja remix)”
Really beautiful. Music is fantastic.

» A Conversation With My 12 Year Old Self: 20th Anniversary Edition

A Conversation With My 12 Year Old Self: 20th Anniversary Edition

I was resistant to putting this on the Friday Videos because I think it’s likely the entire list has already seen it. But it’s amazing, and I figure: it’s worth a few viewings.
Sent in by pretty much everybody on the Friday Videos List. 🙂 (Thanks everybody!)

» Rear Window Timelapse

Rear Window Timelapse

“All footage taken from the original Rear Window (1954) directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The order of events is pretty much as seen in the movie.”
Really well done. Wow.

I know: what the heck is a Teahupo’o? (Now you know!)
Mind blowing. I want to go see this in person one day.

» 100 Riffs (A Brief History of Rock N’ Roll)

100 Riffs (A Brief History of Rock N' Roll)

“Alex Chadwick plays 100 famous guitar riffs in one take giving you a chronological history of rock n’ roll.”
One take. Ridiculous.
This has definitely been making the rounds.

» Without You – Mark Gormley

Without You - Mark Gormley

“This music video is the latest for Local Singer/Songwriter Mark Gormley. The tune is an original and a little more rocked up than his previous videos. It’s about heartbreak and loneliness, there the videos called for lonely, desolate places.”
I am not going to add anything to that. 🙂 Enjoy. (?)

Enjoy the rest of your fabulous Friday!
