Welcome to the first Friday of Summer 2011.
And hey: here are some videos!
» 360-degree video of the Vancouver Riots

» Pogo: Bloom (Disney Remix)
Pogo is a genius remixer and masher-upper.
“This is the video for my track ‘Bloom’, a patchwork of vocals and musical chords from various Disney films. I recorded the harp sample from ‘Sleeping Beauty’, and a series of chords from ‘A.I: Artificial Intelligence’ to form the base of the chorus. The vocals are sampled from Disney films, each of which are illustrated in this video.”
This must have taken months. Well done (while it lasts, Disney being sue-happy.)
» How Green Is Your Internet
YouTube apparently burns 4,000 metric tonnes of CO2 a day. Crazy!
» AKB48 – Making of Eguchi Aimi
Eguchi Aimi is a 100% computer-generated Japanese pop singer.
This is quite the process.
This is apparently only one of many. Crazy!
» Coffee: The Greatest Addiction Ever
A fairly informative short film on Coffee.

Have a great weekend everybody.
It is Friday again!
Here’s some viewing for Friday or the weekend (yes: weekends are allowed.)
» Venice Fly Through
This is an impressive, very carefully coreographed single-take shot of Venice Beach, California, shot by an independent cameraman using a remote control quad-rotor helicoptor.
Music is by Brian Eno from the album “Apollo”.
» Dock Ellis & The LSD No-No
“In celebration of the greatest athletic achievement by a man on a psychedelic journey, No Mas and artist James Blagden proudly present the animated tale of Dock Ellis’ legendary LSD no-hitter”
This is a great little animated segment of history, synced to dialogue from Ellis himself. Well done.
[Context: Dock Ellis played a no-hitter on June 12th, 1970 while extremely high on acid.]
» Cassini Mission
A short film by Chris Abbas (set to music by Nine Inch Nails) is a constructed time-lapse of Saturn and its moons covering several months of NASA’s Cassini mission to the ringed planet. It’s beautiful.
» 50 Impressions in 2 minutes
[self explanatory, sssssort of…]
Performed by Peter Serafinowicz. Funny (or die!)
He has also made several “Actor’s Studio” videos that are quite good.
Sent in by Tara P.
a.k.a.: numerous views of a skateboarder. Seasickness may ensue.
Enjoy the rest of your Friday. Enjoy your weekend.
And I have some videos for you!
An insane, insane little video created by a freelance animator from Brighton, UK, known as Cyriak. He has numerous other videos on their channel and they are equally bizarre. (Also: he created several promo bumps for Comedy Central’s Adult Swim.) Fantastic!
Discovered by Mike T.
» Drifting kids
Some impressive precision driving for a 5 or 6 year old. Crazy!
Sent in by Ashy.
» 3-Way Street
“By summer 2010, the expansion of bike lanes in NYC exposed a clash of long-standing bad habits — such as pedestrians jaywalking, cyclists running red lights, and motorists plowing through crosswalks.”
» Full version slow mo Carlton Draught ad
Sent in by Miko C.
» Unprepared For Test Drive
“Test driving a Jaguar XKR may be old hat for the driver but the passenger was not quite as ready.”
Uh: no kidding.
Have a happy Friday and an excellent weekend.
Friday at LAST!
Am I right?
» View from Space Shuttle Endeavour’s Solid Rocket Booster
Crazy. Two different views. Long but in my opinion worth it.
Also: farewell Endeavour. (snif)
» Outside Aperture
A short film inspired by the videogame “Portal”. Very well done.
» The Baby Bullet
Take the never-ending Baby Bullet infomercial, slow it down 200%, and add creepy music to it. Yikes.
» Subtitled Scott Stenier Promo
» The Hill-Side “Wa” Handkerchief
Such a simple design but obviously a lot of care went into making these.
You can buy one at Hickoree’s Hard Goods. 100% of proceeds go to the International Rescue Committee.
Happy first Friday in June!
Have a great weekend.
